Film has come so far over the years and it is very easy to forget where it started. The beginning of film started as we see in chapter one with the film from Thomas Edison of the first recorded sneeze. Though this scene was obviously very short it was able to replay an event or scene and people were able to relive that moment. After people started to see that these memories were able to be recorded and rewatched they began to evolve the production. In the beginning there was no sound and mostly miming and raw acting were in style but over time people wanted to be able to hear the events too.
After 1910’s the new normal began to have musical an thus musicals were created and we see that there are many examples of that in the text. There are examples such as The Jazz Singer or Suspense that both have at least some sort of musical accent to them or at least some sort of verbals. It is crazy to see how far film has come considering we started with fast turning pages and no words to so much more. We have movies and musicals a our finger tips available on our phones tv’s or iPads. These movies are full of effects that have been developed over time stemming from everything in this chapter, these movies paved the way for new cinema with soundtracks full casts volume, speaking, and singing. Now we are able to recreate anything from past to present to future and it all stems from the people who pushed the envelope and perused this new frontier.
