The Angles and shots of Rear Window

There are many good angles and shots in the rear window movie but the one that stood out to me was the angle that was captured when Lars was coming to attack Jeffries. I found a good image to put in here but unfortunately I couldn’t get it to format in this post correctly. The way the film works in the angle for him looking for defend himself was priceless, the way he scrambles to find a solution and sees his camera flash. He uses this to his advantage and defends himself as best he can. This defense is using his surroundings to protect his life.

The way that Jeffries is such a great problem solver is also another reason as to why he is such a great reporter and photographer. He is willing to go to the most difficult or spots to be able to get his story and picture and that is why he maintained his injury, doing to most for the best angle. I think that this is why the angles and shots were so important in the movie. It was because the perfect picture and the perfect setting were so important to Jeffries. He had another scene of great importance when Lars sees Jeffries in the moment looking to take photo evidence of the murder and him, he then roll his wheelchair into the shade and protection of darkness so that the fact that he was stalking wouldn’t be so evident but he was too late. This scene leads up tot he best shots and angles and that is the flash going off in his defense. Though it didn’t get him out of complete trouble it gave him enough time so that the authorities were able to come to his aid.

Ch. 2 watching films

I have watch many films and tv shows over my time and now after reading chapter two, I think that I will watch more intently and rewatch some of the things I have viewed. I realized after reading that the book is right in that there are so many small details that can be noticed. Whether it is foreshadowing or back-flashes. Everything that happens in films happens for a reason. Such as a show that I enjoyed called prison break, the main character has his entire body tattooed and to a new viewer they would know nothing of it but if you look closely into the fine details there is a map that can be distinguished.

There is also evidence of these types of things in other movies such as in avengers endgame. In the avengers age of ultron there is a scene when the cast is all trying to pick up Thor’s hammer and he says that only the worth can pick it up. Steve Rodgers or Captain America is almost worth of the hammer when we see everyone fail but Thor sees the hammer wiggle when Steve tries to move it. Then in Endgame he is able to wield the hammer in battle.

I have also have seen many movies that hold high significance in their musical tastes. There is music to go with all types of scenes, the drama connected with the successes and failures of the film. Lord of the Rings has very high and low overtones that show the mood and significance of the scene. I think now I will watch movies more intently and try to get into the viewing experience. The book has opened my eyes to being a better film watcher.
